Registered 48 solo tackles and 53 assists for the season ... Added nine sacks and three fumble recoveries ... Had three sacks, caused two fumbles and made 13 tackles in a game against Appomattox ... Jake Grove, Dolphins agree to 5-year deal - 3/09

Adding bulk and perhaps competition to their offensive line, the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday signed unrestricted free agent center Jake Grove, who had played all of his previous five seasons with the Oakland Raiders.

Grove will get a five-year contract worth $30 million, sources said.

The rugged Grove is expected to at least battle incumbent center Samson Satele for the starting job with the Dolphins, if not replace him in the lineup. Since being drafted in the second round in 2007, Satele has started 32 straight games, but Miami coaches are attempting to upgrade at the position.

Satele struggled in 2008 against the nose tackles in the AFC East.

A second-round choice in the 2004 draft, Grove has started at both center and guard for the Raiders. He has not been as dominating a blocker as he was in college, and the Raiders did not try hard to keep him.

Grove, 28, has played in 54 games and made 46 starts. But he has played only one full season in the NFL, that coming in 2006, when he started all 16 games. Several injuries have slowed the career of the former Virginia Tech standout.

The five-year veteran has had double-digit starts in only two seasons. He played in 12 games last season, all as a starter.

Senior writer Len Pasquarelli covers the NFL for ESPN.com.

Anthony Poindexter - JF Cavalier Class of 1994
UVA, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns

Regarded as one of the fiercest hitters in the game during his collegiate career (1994-98), Poindexter earned first-team All-America honors at safety his junior and senior seasons. He also was chosen the 1998 ACC Defensive Player of the Year and is one of only three players in school history to earn first-team All-ACC recognition three times.

He finished his career with 342 career tackles, the ninth-most in school history and tops among ACC defensive backs. He is tied for fifth in school history with 12 interceptions.

As a freshman, Poindexter helped make perhaps the biggest single defensive play in school history when he and teammate Adrian Burnim stopped Florida State tailback Warrick Dunn inches from the goal line, on the game’s last play, to preserve a 33-28 win over the second-ranked Seminoles. With the victory, Virginia ended FSU’s four-year, 29-game conference winning streak since joining the league in 1992.

Jon Hamlett - JF Cavalier Class of 2003

UNC, Atlanta Falcons/waived 2007

Tight End

Forest (VA) Jefferson Forest

Wt: 260 lbs

Class: 2003 (High School)

Jefferson Forest High School
Ranked the No. 14 tight end in the country by Rivals • Considered the No. 9 prospect in Virginia by Rivals • Ranked the No. 19 prospect in Virginia by The Roanoke-Times •Ranked among the top 35 players in Virginia by SuperPrep •PrepStar All-Region selection • Caught 22 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown • Coached by Terry Smith.

Moving just a bit Southwest to round out our dynamic group of tight ends, the ultimate sleeper lurks at Forest (Va.) Jefferson Forest. 6-foot-5, 260-pound tight end Jon Hamlett not only acts as a sixth lineman for his offense, but he also caught 22 passes for 355 yards and a touchdown.

The thing about Hamlett is that he is just scratching the surface of his offensive potential and could become a star in college and beyond. North Carolina has already received his commitment, but that doesn’t mean that teams like Virginia and Virginia Tech have given up on him.

Hamlett runs very well for his size, has good hands and is an absolute load to bring down after the catch. Players like Olsen, Stupar and Davis might have all the offers, but Hamlett holds his own with this group.  (Per Virginia Preps)

Will Honbarrier - Quarterback - JF Cavalier Class of 2007

William & Mary

FOREST -- Senior quarterback. Homecoming king. Author of a comeback victory against a county and district rival.

It was a good night to be Will Honbarrier.

"It's just something," he said, "that I'll remember forever."

Trailing by 11 points after Liberty opened the second half with a bang, Jefferson Forest rallied for a 36-32 win after Honbarrier connected on his final eight passes, including two touchdown passes to tight end Daniel Bryant.

The Cavaliers trailed 32-30 before Ryan Brown's tough, 25-yard touchdown run with 2:47 left.

The Cavaliers (3-2, 2-0) sit atop the Seminole District with Amherst County, having already matched their win total from last year's 3-7 campaign.

Honbarrier finished with 116 yards and three touchdowns on 9-of-11 passing.

He also had a 39-yard run in the fourth quarter to set up an 8-yard scoring pass to Bryant.

At halftime, Honbarrier was 1-of-3, completing only an 18-yard touchdown pass to Casey Chizek.

"In the first half, we were just running the ball so well that we just stuck to what was working," Honbarrier said. "In the second half, it really opened up some play-action."

Most of Honbarrier's receivers were open in the second half.

"They didn't do anything we hadn't seen and we hadn't worked on in practice," Liberty coach Chris Watts said. "We covered it all week long in practice. ... And then there were just several times out here tonight where we just let guys go completely uncovered."

Jefferson Forest's running game was strong early, fueling a quick 15-0 lead en route to 298 rushing yards.

"It was a memorable night," Honbarrier said.

Will is currently playing football at William & Mary (2008)
